NETWORKING

NETWORKING

Basics of Networking

Network:    The Interconnection of two or more devices is called network.

Networking :   To enable the communication between two or more devices is called
                         networking.

Need of Networking:-

Ø  Speed:  We can retrieve the date from one system to another without wasting the time.
Ø  Resource sharing:  We can minimize the cost spent on resources by sharing the resources such as Printers, Fax, and Email Services etc.
Ø  Communication:  It helps in sending and receiving email messages which contains voice picture video and teleconferencing.
Ø  Backup fail over: It provides additional means of backup which are used if the original data is lost or corrupted.
Ø  It provides an improved communication between user ensuring that information is available to users.

Different types of Networking:-

LAN:   Local Area Network.
A network which is established within a defined area is called LAN network.
It operates within a limited geographical location and provides fulltime
              Connectivity to local services.

MAN:  Metropolitan Area Network.
A Network which is established within the city only connecting different LAN’s.
It provides full time and part-time connectivity.

WAN:   Wide Area Network.
A Network which is established without any defined area like city – to – city,
State – state, country – country .It operates over a large geographical location
and provides fulltime and part-time connectivity.
